After Dune: Part Two became a commercial and critical hit, Warner Bros. Pictures locked a December 2026 window. The US theatrical date is December 18, 2026. Principal photography started in July 2025 and wrapped that November, with shooting in Budapest and Abu Dhabi. Hans Zimmer is back to score the film, as he did on the earlier chapters.
Villeneuve had said, while promoting the 2021 Dune, that he would adapt Dune Messiah if the films worked, and that it would be the last Dune movie he directed. That plan is now the December release.

The returning and new ensemble includes Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Jason Momoa, Florence Pugh, Rebecca Ferguson, Isaach de Bankolé, Charlotte Rampling, Anya Taylor-Joy, Robert Pattinson, and Javier Bardem. Casting news continued through March 2025, before cameras rolled in the summer.
