Plot: What We Know
The story picks up decades later: Lydia Deetz (Ryder) is now a mother to teenage Astrid (Ortega). When Astrid accidentally opens a portal to the Afterlife, Beetlejuice (Keaton) is unleashed once again — this time with a wife (Bellucci) and a whole new bag of tricks. Burton has described the sequel as exploring “what happens when the ghost with the most meets the family he haunted.”
The film blends practical effects with modern VFX, staying true to the original’s handmade aesthetic while expanding the Afterlife’s bureaucracy — including a new “Soul Train” sequence and expanded Neitherworld locations.
